D. Roots Broadcaster is an educational and historical newsletter created to document the rich heritage of Black broadcasting and highlight the individuals whose vision, courage, and determination transformed the communications industry. Through historical features, broadcaster profiles, educational articles, career insights, and industry perspectives, the publication serves as both a tribute to the past and a guide for the future.

Our goal is ambitious but meaningful: to make this publication available free of charge to students enrolled in communications programs, particularly at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). HBCUs have played a vital role in developing generations of Black communicators, journalists, broadcasters, and media professionals. Because of their profound influence on the history of Black broadcasting, they remain a primary focus of our educational outreach efforts.
